Cattle First Aid & Emergencies

Welcome to our First Aid & Emergencies course. 

This course has been created by Michael Head, an experienced farm animal vet based in the South West of England. He was a director of a large farm animal practice in Somerset and is now based in Cornwall where he shares his time between clinical work and delivering training courses.

This particular course covers the main farm animal emergency situations that farm personnel could encounter on farm. Through a theoretical basis of the cause of the different emergencies, practical solutions are given to manage the scenarios.

Learning Outcomes 

By the end of this course, the learner should be able to:

• Understand the underlying causes of common farm emergencies.
• Instigate first aid while awaiting further assistance from other farm personnel and/or the vet and making preparations for other interventions.
• Know your level of skill in relation to when to seek assistance.
