Slurry Separators Farming Note

Separating the solid and liquid slurry fractions gives a range of benefits including making slurry easier to handle and reducing its volume by about 20%. If you are in an NVZ this effectively reduces the slurry storage requirements. The solid fraction can be stacked and spread further afield or be more easily exported.

This Farming Note covers:

  • Benefits of slurry separation
  • Types of system
  • Capital and running costs of separators
  • Is a separator worthwhile?

Issued November 2009.
